JOB SUMMARY

This is a position within Saint Francis/Hyde Hospital Rehabilitation Services department.
The Rehabilitative Services Aide (HA 2) reports to the therapists of a particular service or discipline
(OT/PT/SLP) and provides both direct and indirect patient care services.
At this level, the employee is responsible for the treatment of patients who require the direct supervision and
daily guidance of an Occupational, Physical and/or Speech therapist. The Rehabilitative Services Aide works
primarily with adult, geriatric, adolescent patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds,
although pediatric patients may be treated if the Rehab Aide has completed required competency training.
The Rehabilitative aide actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including
performance improvement activities, inservices, and staff development activities.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.

• Prior clinical-based experience requiring interaction with patients.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

• Ability to recognize signs of distress.

• Possession of a high school diploma.

• Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.

• Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication.

• Possession of excellent interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and self-initiation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

• Prior experience in acute care hospital or inpatient rehabilitation facility.

• Prior outpatient patient care experience working with sports medicine, orthopedic and neurologic patients in an interdisciplinary team.

• College degree in a related field.

• Holds advanced certifications such as ATC, CSCS, or other relevant professional certification.

• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

• Ability to use Excel.

• Knowledge of rehab equipment including modalities, Alter-G, BTE, TRX, treadmill, body weight harness.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Current AHA BLS Card
