Phlebotomy Team Lead - Lab-South: Concord

Provides leadership, training, and oversight of the hospital’s phlebotomy program. Serves as a subject matter expert for technical issues, supervises trainees, and ensures compliance with quality control and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities
  1. Handles difficult or complex blood draws.
  2. Organizes workflow and ensures timely specimen collection and delivery.
  3. Maintains detailed and accurate records of specimens collected.
  4. Supervises, trains, and mentors' trainees during hands-on training and completes accurate documentation. Provides ongoing education, ensuring current knowledge of standards.
  5. Resolves technical issues and supports staff with difficult blood draws.
  6. Opens and closes draw sites, ensuring readiness and compliance with hospital protocols.
  7. Ensures quality control and maintenance tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
  8. Maintains inventory of phlebotomy and processing supplies.
  9. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience required.
  • (BLS) Basic Life Support required.
  • ASCP certification or an equivalent certification is required and must be maintained.
  • Prior training or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficient in leadership and teaching skills within a clinical environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate expert-level proficiency in phlebotomy techniques.
  • Ability to apply advanced problem-solving skills to technical and patient care challenges.

Required Licensure/Certifications

- (BLS) Basic Life Support - Certified Phlebotomist-ASCP (PBT1000) OR Certified Phlebotomist-NHA (PBT1001) OR Certified Phlebotomist-NHCO (PBT1002) OR Certified Phlebotomist-NPA (PBT1003) OR Certified Phlebotomist-NPCE (PBT1004)
