Laboratory Quality Coordinator (6151)

A Brief Overview
Coordinates program design, implementation, and daily administrative activities. Coordinates service delivery processes for programs administered by an agency. Conducts special projects at management's request; prepares and presents reports. Supports system level quality and regulatory needs and projects.

What you will do
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff concerning accreditation and regulatory program issues
  • Participate in Quality and Safety related events and councils as indicated
  • Review program objectives to determine compatibility with agency's mission; assesses programs and implements policy, procedure or rule changes as needed to maintain quality, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Participate in the management of the agency; attends agency planning sessions, recommends allocation of resources, provides feedback to employees and agency head, and encourages employee growth and development
  • Assist and serve as a regulatory and accreditation resource across the system. Help with CLIA process, applications for accreditation for the CSC
  • Assist with regulatory readiness and survey prep as needed
  • Manage the multiple moving elements of the PT process for regulatory compliance. Assist with system KPI development, monitoring, reporting and other tasks as identified
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the laboratory safety program. The duties and responsibilities include regular safety inspection audits, monthly team meetings, System-wide education and training
  • Maintain the orders, distributes, tracks and accounts for the PT program for the entirety of the Tidelands Health System Labs. Identifies shortfalls and provides expertise to support ongoing needs as SME for all system Lab/Path PT programs
  • Provides input and support to POC department
  • Participates in organizational committees and workgroups outside of core responsibilities as needed
  • Assists with departmental projects, presentations, and initiatives beyond quality and regulatory functions
  • Supports cross-coverage for peer managers and leaders during absences or high-demand periods
  • Engages in professional development activities, conferences, and continuing education to enhance expertise and bring innovation to the dept

Education Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and 4 years’ experience in addition to related scientific discipline and five years’ work experience as a Medical Technologist Required or
  • Bachelor's Degree in medical technology plus 2 years’ experience Required
  • Master's Degree in a related healthcare discipline Preferred

Experience Qualifications
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in laboratory quality, blood bank quality, laboratory research, or laboratory testing Preferred

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and influence system-wide initiatives

Licenses and Certifications
  • Medical Laboratory Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology Required or
  • Medical Laboratory Technician - American Medical Technologist Required or
  • Medical Laboratory Technician - AAB Board of Registry Required or
  • Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology Required or
  • Medical Technologist - AAB Board of Registry Required or
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology Required or
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Medical Technologist Required
