Summary A Pathologists’ Assistant is a trained allied health professional who provides anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist. Pathologists’ Assistants contribute to the overall efficiency of the laboratory by performing a variety of tasks, consisting primarily of routine gross examination of surgical pathology specimens and providing assistance in the performance of autopsies and preparations of case conferences. Education & Experience Route 1: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program within the last five years; OR Route 2: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with 20 semester hours (30 quarter hours) of biology, AND three years full time acceptable experience as a Pathologists' Assistant within the last ten years. Overview This is a training position in which fellows will be exposed to all areas of the clinical molecular laboratory (Clinical Genomics and Advanced Technology Lab). Fellows will observe all parts of routine clinical testing and participate in select areas of this testing.
