The Molecular Imaging Core of the University of Virginia is looking for a Lab Specialist (varying levels) to carry out rodent imaging studies for biomedical research using preclinical MRI, PET, SPECT, and CT. Run imaging experiments for users on the Bruker BioSpin 9.4T MRI scanner, and backup imaging services on a Bruker Albira Si PET/SPECT/CT scanner. Prepare small animals for imaging including but not limited to anesthetization of animals, insertion of tail vein catheter, placement of ECG leads, measurement of radioactivity levels and determination of volume needed for dosing the animal, injection of contrast agent or radiotracer, placement of the animal in the scanner, and running the scanner. Maintain compliance and training for handling animals and radioactivity. Maintain scheduling the scanner and billing for user time through iLab software.
