Summary:
Facilitates the preparation and administration of radiation treatments to the patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist, according to established standards and practices. Supervises and coordinates the workflow and staffing of the radiation therapists, managing all aspects of daily operations, maintains budget, payroll, staffing level, workflow of patient volume, orders supplies and submits invoices for payment, create department policy and procedures, conducts chart audits and participates in cancer center leadership as well as troubleshooting and problem-solving for any issues that arise.
Responsibilities:
Operates and monitors the linear accelerator to administer radiation therapy in accordance with physician’s instructions and patient’s treatment plan, including both routine and complex treatments according to established practices and standards. Accurately reproduces patient position for treatment, utilizing immobilization devices and treatment aids as prescribed. Obtains patient imaging per physician order to ensure reproducibility and accuracy. Assesses and maintains the quality of treatment setups.
Actively participates in supervisor, staff, QI, and Morbidity & Mortality meetings. Collects data on assigned monitors and reports to Director or designee. Ensures department compliance and equipment maintenance according to all regulatory directives and institutional guidelines, including ACR and ACoS. Develops and updates department policies and procedures.
Reviews patient scheduling, coordinating appointments with other departments to maximize the patient’s experience and satisfaction. Maintains an open dialog with therapists, physicians, infusion and breast center departments, transportation and administration to foster a collaborative team environment within the cancer center.
Manages personnel records and schedules for the radiation team, including work, call, vacation, holidays, and training/education. Maintains the education and certification of all radiation staff. Conducts regular therapist meetings and annual performance appraisals. Interviews potential employees and suggests hiring decisions.
Manages budget and financial cost in all department activities, including the use of personnel, equipment and/or supplies. Develops and implements policy and procedures according to ACR guidelines. Participates in implementing the strategic plan. Monitors productivity, FTE and Strata for weekly reporting to Admin Director. Completes daily audit of treatment charges.

Qualifications
Required
Graduation from an accredited school of Radiation Therapy.
Must maintain ARRT registration in radiation therapy
Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Radiation Therapist.
Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
