Summary:
This position is responsible for supervising employees and managing the hospitality shops within UNC Hospitals.
Responsibilities:
1. Emulates a pleasant, helpful and friendly relationship with members of the public and maintains a safe environment for employees and customers. Operates the register and assists customers when short staffed.
2. Maintains a consistent and deliberate purchasing schedule and avoids under- or over-buying to ensure the store's bottom line profitability. Manages the computer inventory system.
3. Maintains a consistent and productive inventory by assessing inventory needs with regard to special and financial parameters, selecting current and competitive merchandise which is consistent with the stores? image, placing orders on a timely basis, paying specific attention to seasonal purchases, attending gift shows and staying informed of market trends and new products, maximizing inventory turnover and minimizing excessive back stock.
4. Maintains accurate records to ensure compliance with requirements of the annual state inventory of records and costs of merchandise and as needed for compliance with UNCHCS policies and procedures. Conducts annual shop inventory.
5. Maintains compliance with shop policies as outlined in the volunteer policy manual and equipment guides. In conjunction with a committee of volunteers, evaluates the needs of the shops, the direction of planned growth and the overall state of shop affairs.
6. Oversees daily store operations including checking and completing individual store deposits, keeping supplies stocked and equipment clean and in good repair, maintaining storage areas and maintaining an adequate stock level for flowers. Communicates with director regularly regarding gift shop operations.
7. Trains and supervises shop personnel and volunteers. Informs staff and volunteers of pertinent shop and UNCHCS policies and procedures and new products and gift information. Provides recognition to volunteers as appropriate.

● High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Two (2) years supervisory experience in retail sales, including inventory control.
