Overview

Provides direct and indirect patient care to implement treatment programs under direction of an Occupational Therapist in response to physician referrals and in accordance with a plan of care jointly developed. The scope of practice includes training in the following areas: activities of daily living, functional mobility, upper extremity restoration and splinting, cognitive, and perceptual, family and patient education, psychological (both individual and in group setting).

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth and ongoing development.
  • Exhibits flexibility by working across multiple venues and adjusting schedules to support departmental needs and mission objectives.
  • Participates in community education initiatives in collaboration with hospital education programs.
  • Recognizes the need for changes in the plan of care and communicates recommendations promptly to the supervising therapist.
  • Promotes continuity of care through accurate documentation and effective verbal communication.
  • Utilizes computer systems proficiently to ensure accurate billing and clinical documentation.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
  • Safely and effectively transfers patients with significant physical and/or cognitive impairments.
  • Responds appropriately and efficiently to Specific Task Requests.
  • Demonstrates strong clinical competence and sound professional judgment.

Qualifications

  • Prefer two years clinical experience within the last three years.
  • Previous home health or long-term care experience preferred.

Credentials

Essential:
* COTA - Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
* BLS - Basic Life Saving certification

Education

Essential:
* Associate's degree in related field
