  • POSITION STANDARDS
    • Associate Degree and completion of internship requirements from an accredited O.T.A.
      program approved by A.O.T.A.
    • Successful completion of the national certification exam
      for OTA or current certification as a COTA.
    • Holds a current license or eligible for
      license to practice in the State of New Hampshire.
    • Age of Patients Treated:

      All ages
    • Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

  • POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Anything listed here requires a pre-employment physical by Employee Health to determine if the employee is capable of meeting the requirements.
      • Must have good physical stamina.
      • Be able to move, transfer and assist patient's with
        activities of daily living.
      • Physical Activity:
      • Be able to tolerate much bending, lifting, walking, stooping,
        standing and desk work.

      • Ability to manipulate splinting material and/or modalities.

      Position Objective
      • Under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR), the COTA assists
        in evaluation and treats patients referred to Occupational Therapy by a physician; works
        as part of a rehabilitation team; contributes to the operation of the Occupational Therapy
        Department.

      Performance Expectation
      • Treatment
        • Practices Occupational Therapy consistent with the American Occupational
          Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
        • Maintains a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the
          department and the patient.
        • Confers with the persons most closely associated with the management of the
          patient and keeps them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment
          modification and/or progress.
      • Evaluation
        • Responsible for the collection of objective information which supports evaluation/assessment.
      • Records, Reports and Communication
        • Responsible for the preparation and submitting of department reports,
          ensuring confidentiality of all records, including:
          • Current progress notes on all patients with the assigned area.
          • Special reports as requested by the director or supervisor.
          • Daily flow sheet entries and summaries of the same.
      • Assists in maintaining department inventory, in ordering supplies and equipment.
      • Participates in the development of departmental short and long range goals.
      • Attends patient related meetings as delegated by the Occupational Therapy
        Supervisor.
      • Maintains highest level of department safety and care of equipment.
      • Professional Status and Public Relations
        • Keeps abreast of new techniques and trends in the field of Occupational
          Therapy.
        • Attends conventions, meetings or special courses whenever possible and
          shares with the department personnel information gained thereby.
        • Prepares and gives talks to community groups who have made requests for the
          same.
        • Maintains good public relations with all community sources.
