Outpatient Surgery Center, Prep & Recovery

Unit Support Technician

4x10's Monday - Friday, Days

Performs various tasks to provide a well-supplied, safe and clean patient unit. Possesses direct access to drug products and secure medication locations in order to manage the storage, handling and disposal of medications consistent with the Medication Storage and Handling Policy.


Responsibilities
  1. Performs various tasks to ensure the unit is well supplied, including ordering and obtaining supplies, re-stocking supplies and linen to the unit, and locating lost equipment.
  2. Cares for, and cleans unit equipment, maintains cleanliness of work areas, and keeps hallways clear of excess equipment.
  3. Answers telephones, copies and collates materials, prepares and processes patient computer charge sheets, and transcribes physician orders in preparation for RN co-signature. Initiates and maintains dietary report, lab books, IV sheets and other record books. Maintains clinical charts, flow sheets and Kardexes. Receives new admissions and assist visitors. Delivers specimens to the Laboratory and runs errands to other departments. Maintains established written communications systems used by the unit.
  4. Performs equipment operation, test performance, and equipment maintenance. Maintains certifications. Keeps appropriate records for documentation, repairs, follow-up, etc. Provides training for unit staff on equipment.
  5. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate.
  • Experience working in a hospital preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

- BLS certification required within 30 days of employment.
