Job Description
In collaboration with the surgical team, and under the supervision of the Chief Perfusionist/Director of Surgical Services, the perfusionist is primarily concerned with coordinating and participating in the management, set up and operation of heart/lung machines and other ancillary equipment used in open heart and other cardiovascular procedures. The perfusionist is responsible for:
• evaluating techniques and/or equipment for clinical application
• acting as a resource person for the entire heart team
• ensuring effective communication with the entire heart team
Additional Job Description
Bachelor of Science degree in Perfusion Technology or Bachelor of Science degree with a certificate in Perfusion Technology from an accredited cardiovascular perfusion education program. Three to five years of clinical experience preferred. Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
