Lead Innovation That Directly Impacts Patient Access
UVA Health is seeking a strategic, data-driven leader to serve as Director of Access Strategy & Operations Support—a newly created, high-visibility role designed to transform patients' access care across our health system.
In this role, you will drive system-wide access initiatives, lead a high-performing team, and partner with clinical, operational, and IT leaders to modernize workflows, enhance digital patient experiences, and improve operational performance at scale.
What You’ll Do
Lead Strategy & Enterprise Projects
Oversee and manage a portfolio of complex, access-focused initiatives aligned with enterprise goals and PMO standards
Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, track milestones, and proactively resolve barriers to execution
Deliver high-impact initiatives including:
Digital patient self-scheduling (Epic integration)
Referral management transformation
E-consults and access innovation programs
Drive Data & Performance Excellence
Lead the Access analytics function, ensuring accurate dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting
Monitor operational performance and identify trends to drive continuous improvement
Translate data insights into actionable strategies that enhance patient access
Oversee Operations & Support Services
Direct the CAMR medical records operation, ensuring timely and accurate retrieval of ambulatory patient records
Lead logistics and administrative functions supporting day-to-day Access operations
Standardize workflows and optimize systems for efficiency and scalability
Lead & Develop Teams
Managing and developing a growing team.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture
Strengthen Organizational Alignment
Partner with clinical, operational, and IT leaders to advance strategic initiatives
Ensure alignment with enterprise priorities and enhance both patient and staff experience
Provide executive-level updates and visibility across senior Financial & Resource Stewardship
Support budget development and monitor expenses
Ensure responsible allocation of resources across programs and support functions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master’s degree required; a combination of relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience, to include 4+ years of formal management experience.
Licensure: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The pay range for this role is $87,783.00 - $175,565.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.Benefits
