Overview: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologists utilize the resonant frequency properties of atoms within a magnetic field to image anatomic and/or physiologic conditions of the body to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease. MR technologists perform diagnostic magnetic resonance examinations in accordance with all prescribed standards under the direct guidance of the supervising Radiologist. MR Technologists provide patient care to all age groups to include neonatal, pediatrics, adult, and geriatrics. Adheres to all safety requirements for magnetic safety. Demonstrates ability to perform advance MR imaging procedures and is competent/proficient with cross-sectional anatomy and physiology. Provides more complex technical care necessary to meet identified patient needs. Responsibilities:
Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all MRI procedures on patients of all age groups. Positions patient, selects the correct protocol, and utilizes all required equipment. |
Provides quality care to the patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. |
Maintains competencies in all non-scanner related components. |
Accurately follows all established imaging protocols for exam being performed. |
Performs quality control procedures in accordance with the ACR guidelines. |
Provides quality age specific care in accordance with prescribed standards and practices. |
Provides patient education and communications in accordance with prescribed standards. |
Serves as a resource for students and junior technologists. |
Performs advance imaging procedures: Breast Biopsies, Prostate, Functional Brain Imaging and Cardiac procedures. |
Assist with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in an appropriate timed sequence. |
Must be competent and proficient to position, select correct protocol and utilize imaging equipment on patients of all age groups for radiological exams, when requested. |
