Job Description

Job Objective:

Performs electrocardiography studies on all patient populations served. Maintains communication between physicians, nursing and other departments as part of the health care delivery team.

Job Description:

Education:

Required: EKG Class
Preferred: Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular or Medical Assistant program

Licensure/Certification:

Required: American Heart Association BLS

Experience:

Preferred: Healthcare experience

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Obtains artifact-free electrocardiography.
  • Performs adequate holter monitors.
  • Performs EKGs in codes or cardioversion.
  • Prepares the patient’s room and equipment for the electrocardiography.
  • Prepares the patient according to the test being performed and confirm the status of skin allergies with patients.
  • Documents and processes procedures on a daily basis in the database.
  • Processes billing charges or credits on a daily basis.
  • Performs photocopying, filing, charting of reports in patient's medical record as needed.
  • Completes the care and operation of EKG equipment according to technical specifications and application of equipment.
  • Maintains clean, well-stocked equipment with supplies and “in good working order" after each shift.
  • Reports any unsafe or mal-functioning equipment to Bio-med and takes the necessary step in processing reported equipment.
  • Provides teaching and educational material to the patient and or significant others concerning electrocardiography.

Essential Skils:

  • Ability to “stand-by” in cardiac arrests (codes) or cardioversion
  • Ability to produce artifact-free electrocardiography studies
  • Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information
