This is a unique opportunity to train for Alaska State Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) licensure while working hands-on under the supervision of experienced Registered Nurses at a respected critical access and long-term care facility. Loan forgiveness and tuition reimbursement programs are available. RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in CNA training and educational sessions as assigned. Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meals. Support residents with range-of-motion exercises and mobility needs. Accurately observe, record, and report resident information to supervising nurses. Follow care plans and instructions provided by nursing staff to promote resident health and dignity. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Must be at least eighteen (18) years old. Possess a high school diploma or GED. Obtain and maintain a current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the class. Ability to speak, listen, and write effectively to communicate and document care. Basic algebra skills required for measuring intake/output, weight, and vital signs. Must complete general hospital orientation before starting clinical duties. Comfortable with using computer systems for documentation. Physical requirement: Able to walk, stand, stoop, sit, and lift large loads throughout the shift. ENVIRONMENT: South Peninsula Hospital’s LTC Facility combines a 22-bed critical access hospital and a 28-bed skilled nursing facility in a close-knit community setting. The role involves moderate physical demands, including walking, standing, and safe resident handling with available mechanical lifts. Nurses and aides may be exposed to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, needle stick injuries, and muscle strains. Safety protocols and teamwork help maintain a secure work environment.
