The Mohs Technician II performs intermediate-level tissue preparation and laboratory procedures in support of Mohs micrographic surgery. This role works independently, performing cryostat sectioning, staining, and routine diagnostic tests, while ensuring accuracy and quality in slide preparation.

 

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week day-shift position working Monday through Friday from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.


Responsibilities
  1. Orients and embeds tissue specimens for frozen sectioning.
  2. Cuts tissue sections using a cryostat with precision.
  3. Performs routine stains and coverslipping for surgeon review.
  4. Operates laboratory equipment and performs quality control checks.
  5. Accurately records results and maintains specimen documentation.
  6. Assists in training and mentoring Mohs Technician I staff.
  7. Ensures compliance with hospital safety, infection control, and laboratory policies.
  8. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors of Science OR Medical Technology and one (1) year of relevant experience in a laboratory setting OR Associates of Science or Medical Technology and three (3) years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting OR five (5) years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting OR four (4) years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Completion of Mohs Technician II technical competency
  • Professional certification (ASCP, ASMH, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Basic Knowledge of computer software systems
  • Proficiency in cryostat operation and frozen tissue processing.
  • Ability to perform and document laboratory tests with accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and mentoring ability.
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality control practices.
