Summary:
Organizes, coordinates and oversees the shift operations for the department, and is responsible for various operational reports and records. Provides guidance and oversight to departmental personnel. Participates in direct patient care within the paramedic scope of practice as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides assistance and support to the staff nurses as it relates to efficient patient flow. Routinely recommends new or revised methods and procedures as needed to stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements, and so that activities can be accomplished in less time, with less effort, or with better quality. Carries out assigned tasks by director related to data collection and quality improvement as appropriate.
2. Provides appropriate orientation of new staff members to the department and the healthcare system. Participates in creating an atmosphere and conditions which are conducive to, and foster motivation of employees to work at optimal efficiency.
3. Effectively assesses learning needs of staff and collaborates with Director to provide or coordinate appropriate training and education. Routinely provides for "on-the-spot" in-services for assigned staff when minor deficiencies are observed, so that problems do not persist or grow worse.
4. Contributes to the professional development of assigned personnel, by observing work, tracking performance indicators, answering questions, explaining proper procedures, demonstrating techniques, and intervening as warranted to correct deficiencies or help resolve problems. Continuously assesses employee performance, documenting significant achievements and/or deficiencies, and coaching or counseling, as appropriate, to maximize employee capabilities and performance of assigned staff.
5. Effectively serves as a liaison in coordinating services between and among various departments, so that administrative and communications needs are met on a timely basis. Routinely solicits feedback from frontline staff and follows through as needed to implement actions for improvement. Facilitates and encourages timely communications with relevant parties, so that they are aware of actions being taken, status of activities, time frames involved, and reasons for any delays or changes in service.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Registered Nurse License in NC
· BLS Certification
· ACLS Certification
· CPI Certification
· NIHSS Certification
Professional Experience Requirements:
· 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
· Hospice Experience required
