Summary:
Using cardiovascular imaging equipment and standards, the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist prepares and performs non-invasive diagnostic procedures and tests used to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data. In addition to performing a clinical imaging role, this position carries responsibilities regarding accreditation efforts for the cardiovascular program. Through effective performance of clinical duties and coordination of ongoing quality efforts, this role drives optimal care outcomes.
Responsibilities:
· Performs and reports results of non-invasive peripheral vascular or echocardiographic diagnostic procedures.
· Organizes and leads monthly quality conferences and meetings. Coordinates accreditation efforts and engages with accrediting body representatives.
· Collects, maintains, and inputs data required for accreditation through the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).
· Ensures positive patient identification. Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.
· Reads, comprehends and transcribes imaging order, engaging with physician when order is unclear, complex or warrants deeper review.
· Interviews patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history components that may warrant a more in-depth examination for safety.
· Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy, pathology and the capabilities/limitations of both imaging hardware and specific imaging sequences.
· Measure, evaluate and record gradients using pressure measurements recorded with Doppler ultrasound system.
· Review and chart record of care into electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
· Collaborates with peer leaders and management in routine daily operations including patient scheduling, staff schedules, and patient throughput. Instructs and mentors sonography staff on equipment use, imaging techniques, and digital acquisition systems (PACs).

Qualifications
Required
• 3+ years experience as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS, RDCS) through CCI or ARDMS; or dual registered in Cardiac and Vascular Sonography
• Education or graduation from an accredited cardiovascular sonography program.
• BLS certification
• Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) tools
Preferred
• Degree in Allied Health field
• Experience with EPIC and CV-Synapse EMR tools
