The Pharmacy Technician Trainee position is designed to prepare individuals for a successful career in pharmacy support through a structured and comprehensive training program. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience in a pharmacy setting while fulfilling the requirements set form by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
Pharmacy Technician Trainees will engage in an 11-week, 400-hour entry-level Pharmacy Technician Training Program that includes didactic, simulated, and experiential training. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and pass a Pharmacy Technician Training Program Math and Reading assessment. Once enrolled, Technician Trainees are required to obtain a Pharmacy Technician Trainee license from the Virginia Board of Pharmacy within 10 days from the date of hire and must remain in good standing for the duration of the program, maintaining a minimum grade of 80%.
Candidates who complete the program in good standing will be eligible to sit for a nationally recognized pharmacy technician certification exam, such as the PTCB or NHA and apply for full Pharmacy Technician licensure through the Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
