Performs ultrasound studies in a clinical environment, including abdominal, vaginal, OB and GYN exams. The sonographer must have a clear understanding of image formation and display. The sonographer must have a clear understanding of fetal growth and development, as well as the basics of pelvic anatomy. Demonstrates skills and ability to locate normal anatomical and fetal abnormalities. The sonographer must be able to provide correct fetal measurements and patient history. Sonographer is responsible for reviewing the schedule and appropriately documenting for correct charge entries. The sonographer is responsible for exam set-up, physician assistance, patient care, and operation of all department equipment.
Education
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Radiologic Technology program.
Licensure
Candidate must be CPR Certified
ARDMS or ARRT(S) certification
