Under the residency director, physical therapy residency preceptor, and department supervisor direction, the PT Resident provides professional patient care. Practices physical therapy by evaluating, planning, implementing, and treating various therapeutic procedures and assistive devices to maximize functional potential in all areas of the patient's life. Develops and implements an individualized treatment plan based on patient needs and containing achievable functional goals. Revises treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process. Provides supervision, instruction and collaborates with the physical therapist assistant (PTA) regarding treatment procedures utilized during patient care. Establishes and instructs patients and families/other caregivers in exercises and therapeutic home programs to be continued following discharge. Provides all care in accordance with the philosophy and essential functions of the hospital, the rehabilitation department, the Indiana State Practice Act, the American Physical Therapy Association, and the Joint Commission. Residents may offer care for patients in various therapeutic venues with the overall organizational goals of promoting Parkview Health. Completes the mandatory curriculum as approved by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) |

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy, with a physical therapy degree as follows: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, if graduated prior 1/1/2016; Doctorate of Physical Therapy required, if graduated after 1/1/2016; International Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school and possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy. Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree preferred. |

Must hold or be eligible to receive a Physical Therapist license in Indiana. State licensure must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment. Must be a board-certified specialist. Must be certified in CPR or must become certified within the first 90 days of employment. Must maintain all certifications and licenses according to the expiration date. American Physical Therapy Association membership preferred. If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver's license is required. If assigned to drive a personal vehicle, proof of insurance is required in addition to a valid driver's license. |
