Job Overview:
Assists pharmacists in all aspects of pharmacy practice and performs any duties required to provide and ensure good patient care and safety as requested.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School/GED diploma within 6 months of hire
Must be PTCB certified within 90 days and maintain PTCB certification
Registration with the NJ Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician
Certifications and Licenses Required:
PTCB certification within 90 days

Scheduling Requirements:
Per Diem
Essential Functions:
Places orders with suppliers, unpacks, verifies and puts away drug orders. Notes any discrepancies on the invoice, notifies the supplier, and indicates the resolution of the problem
Maintains adequate drug inventory, supplies and restocks pharmacy picking stations
Packages and properly labels individual unit dose liquid and solid medications and documents such in the unit dosing system
Cleans the compounding and packaging areas after use
Cleans medication drawers of discharged patients and performs other routine pharmacy housekeeping functions
Refills and maintains automated dispensing cabinets ADCs
Collects and processes medication orders prior to distribution
Delivers prepared medication to nursing units, as assigned
Performs necessary tasks related to patient transfer and discharge record keeping and transfer of medications
Delivery of controlled substances to all hospital areas
Checks for and removes expired medications from stock
Prepares and labels extemporaneously compounded non sterile pharmaceuticals
Answers and directs telephone calls and other inquiries including those from medical staff and nursing staff in a professional and courteous manner
Delivers intravenous solutions to nursing units
Performs quality assurance tasks as assigned
Assists with orientation and training of new staff
Completes all competency and skills assessment requirements
Attends daily departmental huddles
Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule
IV Sterile Product Preparation if applicable
Sterile product preparation utilizing sterile technique
Appropriate labeling of sterile products
Performs required calculations for all aspects of pediatric medication dispensing and compounding
Maintains the integrity of laminar air flow hoods by cleaning and following proper procedures
Works as a team player and assists those in need
Enhances team effectiveness through dependability
Arrives to work on time and is ready to begin duties
Demonstrate respect and appreciation for each person, regardless of that persons background, race, gender, religion, disability, or sexual orientation
Maintains professional demeanor at all times
