Job Overview:
As a Paraprofessional Technician, you will provide vital applied behavior analytic services to patients with developmental disabilities and pediatric feeding disorders under the expert guidance of our behavioral health team. In this hands-on role, you will bridge the gap between assessment and treatment by implementing specialized programs, managing clinical data systems, and empowering caregivers to support their loved ones' progress.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification
Preferred:
Previous experience working with individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, pediatric feeding disorders, or other behavioral diagnoses
Experience in an educational, instructional, or therapeutic setting
Scheduling Requirements
Full-Time – 40 hours
Essential Functions:
Conduct direct treatment sessions and implement intake, assessment, and discharge procedures under the direction of a professional behavior analyst
Assist with the development and execution of skill acquisition programs, such as increasing food acceptance, chewing skills, and social communication
Implement behavior reduction protocols, including extinction and functional communication training, to manage and decrease inappropriate behaviors
Maintain precise data collection by entering assessment data into spreadsheets, graphing results, and performing initial analysis for the clinical team
Prepare clinical documentation, including session materials, progress notes, and measurable reports on patient behavior and environmental factors
Assist in training caregivers, parents, and school personnel to ensure continuity of care and program success
Support research activities and auxiliary program needs, including the maintenance and cleanliness of clinical materials and equipment
Physical Demands:
Ability to move, lift, and carry patients and objects up to 50 lbs independently
Ability to assist with transferring weights of more than 100 lbs
Requires use of abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
Frequent movement, use of limbs, and good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
Other Duties:
Paraprofessional Technicians may work with patients who vomit or who engage in other forms of challenging behavior, such as aggression, self-injury, elopement, expulsion (spitting out food or liquid during treatment), or property destruction.
