Job Description
As our Lab Lead, you’ll be at the center of operations—guiding your team, ensuring quality, and delivering accurate results that directly impact patient care.
Perform moderate & high complexity testing on blood and body fluid specimens
Oversee assigned laboratory discipline(s) and daily workflows
Ensure accuracy and reliability through QC, calibration, and maintenance
Utilize and maintain proficiency in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Maintain records and stats in compliance with regulatory standards
Collaborate with phlebotomy and clinical staff to ensure proper specimen collection
Troubleshoot equipment, test methods, and specimen issues
Train and mentor new staff and students
Communicate critical results and issues to medical and nursing teams
Review and oversee technical staff performance
Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and innovation
Act as a key liaison between lab staff and leadership
Help resolve technical and personnel challenges in real time
Lead team-building efforts and foster a positive, collaborative environment
Recommend workflow improvements to enhance patient care
Assist in implementing cutting-edge lab technologies
Serve as a subject matter expert and go-to problem solver
Support staff competency, training, and performance development
Maintain inspection readiness and accreditation compliance at all times
Additional Job Description
Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (or related field)
Meets CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489) requirements for testing personnel
Certification: MLT (ASCP)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with the American Heart Association
Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills
Ability to stay calm and effective in emergency/high-pressure situations
