POSITION SUMMARY Blood Bank Senior Technologist Primary Function: Manages the technical operational aspects of the Blood Bank department for efficient, cost effective and timely production of medical diagnostic test results on body fluids by automated and manual methods, Assumes responsibility for procedural and system controls, problem solving, teaching and supervision, Produces medical diagnostic test results in an efficient and cost effective manner for stat and routine specimens, Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs instruments and lab equipment if possible, Maintains all necessary QC, QA and repair records required by accreditation agencies, Verifies patient test orders from physician orders and enters orders into the Laboratory Information System -LIS, Assists in clerical duties as needed, Assists in the training of new employees and students, Segregates laboratory wastes according to established policies, Works on special projects as requested by Supervisor and/or Director, Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to assess data reflective of each patient's status and provide acre appropriate to the age of the patient served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric, Scheduling Requirements: Full Time Day Shift MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent Graduate from an approved School of Medical Technology MT certification from ASCP or HEW equivalent Six years working experience, Benefits and Perks At RWJBarnabas Health, our market-competitive Total Rewards package provides comprehensive benefits and resources to support our employees’ physical, emotional, social, and financial health.
