The Inpatient Pharmacy Department at Valley Children’s utilizes evidence-based therapeutic guidelines to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care to our patients. Our highly trained pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work side-by-side with providers and other interprofessional teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes, while utilizing state-of-the-art technology to maximize patient safety.
Inpatient Pharmacy provides clinical interdisciplinary pharmacy services in all inpatient areas including Rehab, PICU, NICU, Acute Care, and Oncology. We have numerous pharmacy advance practice protocols including antibiotic monitoring, anticoagulation, IV to oral conversion, and renal dosing. Other clinically supported services include the Emergency Department, Palliative Care, Investigational Drug oversight, and parenteral nutrition (including production).
Our team members also support the following specialty clinics: Oncology, Hematology, Rheumatology, Pulmonology/CF, Endocrinology, Neurology, Cardiology and our complex primary care center. Many pharmacists hold collaborative practice agreements to optimize medication therapy management and collaborate to enhance patient care.
Job Summary:
This position reports to the Director of Pharmacy. Working with the Pharmacy Leadership (Pharmacy Director, Pharmacy Operations Manager, Pharmacy Clinical Manager, Home Care Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Supervisors and Pharmacy Technicians Manager) shall be responsible for ensuring the pharmacy departments and organization follows all aspects of medication management ensuring medication safety in compliance with all regulatory laws and statutes. Current practice shall be continually evaluated and monitored to ensure optimal practice. Shall lead change when appropriate. Shall be evidence based from the literature or from our own data striving for best practice and shall ensure all policies and procedures are updated to support these practices to help ensure staff is supported. Shall assist with education and training for patient safety and regulatory topics. Interacts with other hospital disciplines including the medical staff to effect positive change. The Medication Safety/Regulatory Compliance Pharmacist is the advocate for the patient.Qualifications:
