Summary

Provides professional patient care and practices occupational therapy by evaluating, planning, implementing and documenting treatment. Assesses plans and carries out programs of purposeful activity designed to assist in the rehabilitation of medically necessary patients as prescribed by the physician. Bases a selection of activities from a physician's prescription, history, evaluation findings, experience and interests of the patient; plans and directs special diversional or educational events for patients. Instructs and collaborates with occupational therapy assistants regarding treatment procedures to be utilized. Supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants/Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA/OTA) in carrying out an OT program or selected parts of it. Completes all documentation and billing in a timely and acceptable manner. All care is provided in accordance with the philosophy and essential functions of the rehabilitation department, The Joint Commission, State Practice Acts, and the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy, with an Occupational Therapy degree as follows: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree if graduated prior 1/1/2002; Master's degree required if graduated after 1/1/2002; International Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school and possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy. A Masters degree is preferred. |

Must hold or be eligible to receive an Occupational Therapy license in the state where services will be provided within the first 90 days of employment. Must be certified in CPR or must become certified within the first 90 days of employment. Must maintain all certifications and licensure according to the expiration date. American Occupational Therapy Association membership preferred. If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver's license is required. If assigned to drive a personal vehicle, proof of insurance is required in addition to a valid driver's license. |

American Occupational Therapy Association membership preferred. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds, and may be required to push up to 300 pounds. Must be willing to work at other locations as assigned. |
