RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be a key member of the Diagnostic Imaging team, providing clinical radiographs as directed by physicians or radiologists in accordance with established standards and practices.
Prepare patients and adjust equipment as necessary for the performance of x-ray examinations.
Identify and instruct patients regarding procedures.
Perform Quality Assurance tasks as directed by the Imaging Director.
Prepare and maintain departmental records and reports.
Work flexible shifts as needed in both hospital and clinic settings.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have current certification as an ARRT Radiologic Technologist.
Preferred additional modalities such as CT, MRI, or Mammography or willingness to cross-train.
Successfully complete an AMA-approved Radiologic Technologist training course.
Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and maintain annual registration.
Maintain current CEU credits as required by the ARRT.
Strong communication skills to effectively instruct patients and ensure their comfort during imaging procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move patients, and handle imaging equipment.
ENVIRONMENT:
South Peninsula Hospital is a 22 bed critical access hospital (CAH), with an attached 28 bed long term care facility, and a variety of clinics. We provide care close to home for the southern Kenai Peninsula. We have been three times named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital out of more than 1,300 critical access hospitals nationwide. Homer, Alaska, is a seaside town nestled on the shores of beautiful Kachemak Bay, offering breathtaking views of glaciers, mountains and wildlife. The position requires walking and standing for prolonged periods, stooping, sitting, and the ability to lift large loads without injury to self or others. Persons in this position are exposed to infectious diseases, falls, and muscle strains. Generally, physical demands are moderate and most work is performed inside. Working hours may fluctuate based on the demands of the work.
