Job Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for effective EMS field operations for assigned areas. Working in conjunction with the EMS Shift Supervisor, supervises work of subordinates to ensure all components of assigned shift are operating efficiently. Utilizing Incident Management System procedures performs within the incident command structure in multi-casualty/mass casualty situations. Exercises appropriate judgment in all situations and demonstrates high level of clinical and administrative competency. Strives to ensure prompt response to emergency calls. Works under stressful conditions to include high risk, life threatening situations, adverse weather conditions and time constraints. This position operates on both a QRV and ambulance.Essential Functions

Provides basic and advanced life support (ALS) interventions as needed.
Assesses patient conditions, establish priorities, and implement appropriate treatment plans.
Administers medications, perform procedures, and use medical equipment according to protocols.
Safely transports patients to healthcare facilities while monitoring and documenting their condition.
Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Maintains accurate patient care reports and complies with all regulatory and organizational requirements.
Participates in continuous professional development, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
Ensures the maintenance, cleanliness, and readiness of emergency medical equipment and vehicles.
Operates all vehicles in a safe, courteous and efficient manner
Performs Point of Care (POC) testing with approval of Administration
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned.
Experience - No experience required. One (1) year pre-hospital care experience preferred
In Lieu Of
A Provisional Paramedic certification from another Emergency Medical Service COMPACT State (EMS COMPACT) meets education and Paramedic certification requirements. Obtaining conventional State required certification and National Registry (NREMT) certification must occur within twelve months of hire.
Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
State or Provisional approved Paramedic certification
A valid driver’s license; an acceptable motor vehicle record, as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart.
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required within 90 days of hire
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Required within 90 days of hire
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) - Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of patient equip (Vitals, suction, defib)
Working knowledge of Cardiac Monitor, Defibrillator, Pulse Oximeter, Non-Invasive BP Monitor, Infusion Pumps, Other Equipment
Ability to demonstrates skill proficiency on an annual basis
Ability to maintains Professional Certifications by attending in-service training programs
Decision-making skills
Ability to collaborate with EMS teams and healthcare providers, and safe patient transport.
Clinical skills
Ability to perform under pressure in dynamic environments.
