Summary

Registered Dietitian for PPG Weight Management

  • The Registered Dietitian (RD) will support outpatients referred to weight management.
  • The RD is an integral part of the multidisciplinary weight management team. The RD works collaboratively with providers setting goals for patients in their weight loss journey.
  • Primary responsibilities include application of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) including completion of the nutrition assessment, meeting 1:1 with patients in an outpatient setting, assisting patient in setting attainable goals, educating on evidence-based nutrition interventions, and monitoring and evaluating the patient’s progress.
  • The RD works independently managing resources in a cost-effective manner, and participates in compliance and quality performance improvement, and oversees the experiences for dietetic interns.
  • The RD is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, is involved in education of physicians, residents, medical students and other health professionals as requested via lectures and in-service opportunities and team conferences, and contributes to the development and revision of organizational policies and guidelines.
  • The RD maintains professional competency and skills required for professional practice.

• Excellent counseling skills and ability to relate to a multi-ethnic community and varied learning levels.

• Strong interpersonal skills to establish productive working relationships with multidisciplinary team and support services.

• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to patients, pubic, medical staff, and physicians.

• Ability to organize tasks and function independently.

• Ability to counsel and motivate others.

• General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, spreadsheet, and professional presentation software.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Dietetics or related field from a University accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Completed an ACEND®-accredited supervised practice program/internship at a health-care facility

License, Certification, Registration:

  • Pass the National Registration Examination within 6 months of hire
  • Indiana State License obtained within 6 months of hire
