Job Description Summary
The Polysomnographic technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. The technologist should be registered in sleep technology or be eligible to sit for the registry exam within 6 months of hire. The Medical University of South Carolina Sleep Center is located in Charleston at the main hospital. It is accredited by The American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Job Description
For this role, advanced expertise, typically acquired through five or more years of polysomnography experience and RPSGT certification, is required. The sleep technologist operates under the general supervision of the medical director or designated authority, providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for sleep disorders. This includes in-center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, patient care, and education.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 4 years of experience working with sleep patients. State Licensure and/or professional certification requirements may be required depending on the position. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
