Under the supervision of the EKG/EEG/ECHO Supervisor and following established technical standards, this position provides ultrasound images of the heart and related structures of patients of all ages for physician interpretation. The Echocardiographer must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, be capable of gathering and assessing information relative to the patient's age-specific needs, and provide the care needed to achieve the desired clinical outcomes. The Echocardiographer must be able to understand and modify the therapeutic approach in response to the patient's nonverbal reactions to therapy, psychosocial needs, physical limitations and any other age or illness specific issues.

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited program required. Must be registry eligible, including 946 hours (6 months) of advanced training in cardiac ultrasound. Previous experience in Echocardiography preferred. Must have Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) and BLS (within 3 months of hire and maintained on a biannual basis). Must be accredited through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
