POSITION PURPOSE: This Care Tech position within the Urgent Care setting assumes responsibility and accountability for providing patient care for patients and their families. Provide expert, compassionate, individualized patient care for patients and families. Collaborate with providers, staff and other members of the team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Oversee the daily patient flow to optimize patient care, safety and satisfaction using healthcare assessment skills, prioritizing skills and critical thinking skills. 2. Assists with and performs patient care including collection of patient information, accurate reading and documentation of vital signs, and recording input and output activities and treatments on the EMR. 3. Triage incoming patient requests for services. 4. Deliver patient education to facilitate plan of care, employer-informed healthcare choices, and promote optimal wellness. 5. Oversee coordination of the daily patient flow and schedule in order to optimize patient care, safety and satisfaction - includes preparing rooms for exams and procedures. 6. Demonstrates ability to work with the practice providers by accurately receiving and implementing instructions and orders. 7. Demonstrates clinical knowledge in all patient types and age groups to meet patient care needs/outcomes within the practice. Displays cultural competency and ability to work with diverse patient populations. 8. Performs various procedures, processes, and other duties as assigned under provider delegation. 9. Administer medications to patients and records patient responses. 10. Loads and inventories Pyxis medication machine. 11. Maintains diagnostic and medication logs as required by policy. Documents patient care services accurately in patient and department records. 12. Protects patients and employees by assisting in maintaining a clean, safe working environment, and adhering to infection control policies and protocols. 13. Work independently, as needed, with minimal supervision. 14. Deliver excellent service by utilizing Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients and families. 15. Role models the principals of a Just Culture. 16. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: One year of experience as a care tech or similar role preferred. License(s): Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Paramedic certification by the state of Colorado required. Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association required. Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
