Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The social worker assists patients and families to resolve all aspects which may prohibit or limit the patient from receiving maximum benefit from medical care. Evaluates the social-emotional functioning of patient and families, providing counseling when necessary and facilitates the discharge plan.
