Description: The Clinical Laboratory Assistant is required to perform the following laboratory services: Performs blood collection using the appropriate collection method and techniques. Performs and reports accurate laboratory patient and quality control testing. Verifies proper patient identification and maintains patient confidentiality. Reports and documents critical laboratory values according to policy. Perform drug screen and breath alcohol collections as needed. Maintains proper inventories and correctly uses supplies and reagents. Performs laboratory equipment trouble-shooting and maintenance. The MLS I performs clinical testing in at least two of the following departments: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology. Team members working second or third shifts must be competent in all areas mentioned above. The MLS I is responsible for operating laboratory equipment, preparing specimens, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution that either includes, or is accompanied by, the required coursework in medical laboratory or biological sciences, and laboratory training and/or equivalent experience as defined in 42 CFR §493.1423 for personnel performing high complexity testing.
