Job Summary

Prevent, assess, and treat emergency, acute, and chronic athletic injuries, and recondition athletes after injury to prevent injury recurrence, impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Assess, develop exercise program and provide training for athletes in the high school and middle school setting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver athletic medical care in a positive, caring, and empathetic manner while working to assure the athlete's health, safety, and well-being is the primary objective.
  • Provide preventative services, emergency care, first aid techniques, triage, clinical assessments, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and medical conditions.
  • Monitor athletic events and team practices.
  • Advise athletes on the proper use of protective equipment and apply protective or injury preventive devices including tape, bandages, or braces.
  • Assess athletes' injuries through medical history, observation, and appropriate tests. Interpret assessment information and analyze data to formulate an appropriate treatment plan or to make necessary physician referrals.
  • Communicate assessment results to athlete, parent or guardian, coach, and team or family physician.
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation of injury assessments, treatments, rehabilitation, follow-up care, and progress of an athlete's injuries and medical conditions.
  • Appropriate use of medical equipment and therapeutic modalities, including ice, moist heat, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, joint mobilization, etc. safely and effectively in carrying out planned interventions.
  • Comply with all applicable policies and procedures, including, but not limited to all departmental and functional policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of personal protected information.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education Requirements:

  • Minimum: Bachelor of Athletic Training


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum: One (1) or more years experience in Athletic Training
  • Preferred: Three (3) or more years experience in Athletic Training


License/Certification Requirements

  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer with the state of Indiana
  • Board of Certification (BOC), Inc. Athletic Trainer Certification
  • Basic Life Safety certification

Education

Bachelors or better in Athletic Training or related field.
