POSITION SUMMARY:
The Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist is responsible for:
• Performing venipunctures and capillary draws on Inpatients, Emergency Department patients, Outpatients, and outside clients such as nursing home patients, as required. Patient ages served are newborn to geriatric.
• Answering the telephone, taking messages and acting as the Customer Service Representative of the Laboratory (looking up results, phoning/faxing results, etc.)
• Performing and processing Holter Monitors.
• Acting as a general receptionist for the Laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma
Experience: Preference is given to persons with prior phlebotomy training either through an accredited course or previous experience. ASCP certification in phlebotomy is desired/preferred. Persons with prior customer service experience desired but not mandatory. Computer skills are mandatory.
Minimum experience – must have performed at least 50 successful venipunctures in the past.
Salary Range: Min: $18.73 / Mid: $23.89 / Max: $29.04
