Summary:
Assists the Mohs Micrographic Surgeon by preparing the surgery suites, prepping patients, assisting with the Mohs procedure, reconstruction, bandaging, and patient education.
Responsibilities:
1. Assists the Mohs Micrographic Surgeon with procedures including but not limited to skin biopsies, Mohs surgical layers, reconstructive surgery and consultations scheduled prior to procedures.
2. Obtains preoperative patient information, consent forms, and provides education to patients and family members of the Mohs Surgical process and what to expect throughout the day. Relays pertinent information to the Mohs Micrographic Surgeon prior to surgery.
3. Educates patients and families members about post-operative care in accordance with Mohs Micrographic Surgeon’s instructions and answers any follow-up questions with patience and compassion.
4. Provide patients with Mohs surgical follow-up appointments as needed, answer myChart or office voicemail patient questions, and confers with surgeons regarding additional post-Mohs patient care.
5. Maintains surgical patient photographs, Mohs Micrographic Surgeon Tumor Log and Referring Provider Thank You Letters using Epic EMR post-Mohs surgical data and Mohs Histology Technician data.
6. Maintain and clean the surgery suites by stocking rooms, preparing supplies instruments before and after procedures, observing & reporting surgical equipment needs.

Education Requirements:
● Bachelors' degree in science-related discipline or Surgical Technologist diploma preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● If a Bachelor's degree: No prior experience is required.
● If a Surgical Technologist diploma: No prior experience is required.
● If a high school diploma or GED: requires one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or related experience in a clinical support role.
