Job Overview: The Mental Health Screener Community Outreach Specialist responds to the emotional needs of those requesting assistance through screening, assessment, crisis intervention, referral and outreach while ensuring a smooth transition and use of mental health resources, Qualifications: A Master's degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related clinical field required; Certified New Jersey Mental Health Screener or immediately eligible with six months of hire required; Two years experience in a mental health setting, preferably in crisis intervention/emergency services, Scheduling Requirements: Days to work FT 40 hours/week Essential Functions: Provides crisis intervention, information, and referral services on the telephone, in the Emergency Room and throughout the community, Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service, Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records, Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures, Demonstrates sound judgment; accepts and benefits from constructive criticism Participates in ongoing education as required, Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
