Job Overview:
The Pharmacy Specialist assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of the Registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in storage and control, dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups includes geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal.
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited training program or two years’ experience
Registered by the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy
Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):
Full-Time

37.5 Hour Work Week
Essential Functions:
Delivers drug orders and carts as prioritized by the pharmacist promptly
Delivers controlled substances to patient care areas, assuring the appropriate procedures are followed
Fills Pyxis fill list for electronic dispensing machines in patient care areas, delivering and placing medications into the machines according to procedure
Demonstrates competency in aseptic technique and performs cleaning and compliance of documentation requirements for sterile compounding with departmental policy
Document patient care activities in the form of interventions appropriately, according to the organization's policies and procedures
Follows all procedures involved in the appropriate documentation of all documentation errors and meets the required minimum documentation per employment status
Inspect floor stock storage locations for expired medications
Removes and replaces outdated pharmacy products
