Job Description
Job Summary:
Evaluates, administers, and directs therapeutic procedures to patients recovering from injury, disease, surgery, or other
ailments as deemed appropriate for the patient’s plan of care. Establishes goals of physical therapy, reassesses patient
progress at regular, timely intervals, and supports findings with appropriate documentation. This job classification is
required to care for patients of all ages. May direct support staff in assisting with treatment.
Clinical Knowledge and Skills:
• Evaluation and Assessment:
o Performs independent patient evaluations, recognizing complex conditions and adjusting assessments
accordingly.
o Sets specific, measurable, and achievable goals, using evidence-based practice guidelines.
• Therapeutic Procedures:
o Independently administers a variety of therapeutic interventions, tailored to the patient's individual needs
and in accordance with the plan of care.
o Adjusts treatment plans based on patient progress and emerging needs.
• Patient Documentation:
o Documents patient progress, providing detailed rationale for treatment choices and adjustments.
o Leads care plan updates, integrating multidisciplinary input as needed.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
o Takes a more active role in multidisciplinary meetings, contributing insights from a physical therapy
perspective.
o Provides guidance to Level 1 therapists and support staff, ensuring treatment consistency.
Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program, greater than one year experience as a physical
therapist, and licensure as a Physical Therapist by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education: Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program, greater than one year experience as a physical therapist, and licensure as a Physical Therapist by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
