Summary
Summary
Provides professional patient care and occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Delivers treatment in accordance with physician orders and the established plan of care, utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques and assistive devices to support functional improvement in all areas of a patient’s life. Implements individualized treatment plans based on the Occupational Therapist’s evaluation and collaborates throughout the course of care to update and revise treatment as needed. Educates patients, families, and caregivers on exercises and home programs to be continued after discharge. Ensures timely and accurate documentation and billing. All care is provided in alignment with the philosophy and standards of the hospital, the rehabilitation department, the Indiana State Practice Act, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and The Joint Commission.
Education
Must have an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Licensure/Certification
Must hold or be eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state where services are provided. Licensure must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
CPR certification is required within the first 90 days of employment.
Must maintain all certifications and licensure according to expiration requirements.
AOTA membership preferred.
If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required. If using a personal vehicle, proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license are required.
Experience
Previous work experience preferred but not required beyond clinical experience obtained through an accredited educational program.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with lifting up to 100 pounds.
May be required to push/pull up to 300 pounds.
Must be willing to work at other locations as assigned.
