ResponsibilitiesSurgical Technician is responsible for full sterile/non-sterile sterile preparation of the procedure operating room before and after procedure surgery. Assists physician during procedures. Performs sterilization/reprocessing of instruments and equipment after each procedure. Performs other related duties as required. QualificationsWorking knowledge of use, function, and operation of procedure room equipment, instrumentation, and furniture. Working knowledge of procedure room sanitation. Working knowledge of aseptic technique. Working knowledge of procedures, anatomy, and terminology. Ability to communicate with other staff to obtain and provide information. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers and other co-workers. Ability to accept shift changes to meet the department’s needs. Skill in setting priorities, recognizing emergency situations and taking appropriate action based on past experiences or according to instruction from the nurse in charge. Skill in performing independently and following through on assignment with minimal direction and supervision. Ability in performing repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence, and pace. Ability to respond to emergency calls, in case of a disaster, and to follow instructions. Ability to lift heavy objects, push or pull heavy carts, handle surgical equipment carefully and safely, and stand for long periods of time.
