Resignations have been very rampant across all workspace around the globe. When every closed done when pandemic started, job security was one of the key issues as there have been lay-offs and manpower cut in most organization to address losses in sales and profit. However, when organizations have started to wake up from slumber during pandemic, the opportunities for work have also flooded. It is important to not just went ahead to join the trend, but it's very important to be strategic in your next steps. Here are some tips that may help you make necessary preparation before deciding to leave your current organization

  1. Update your resume - revisit the resume you had when you apply to your current job, and update with the most recent work experience and accomplishments you have
  2. Think of the career path you want to take - ask yourself if you are planning to take on the same role, do you want to take the next position in the ladder or are you trying to take a new job outside of your current department
  3. Go to various job portals, look for the position you are aiming for and read through the requirements. What are most organizations looking for, what credentials or certification they prefer and what skillset they require
  4. Once you have decided on the career path and have looked in to the market needs for the position, reassess your resume if it is aligned with the market needs, highlight the important experiences and identify where you need to compensate more either by experience or credentials.
  5. If you feel like your resume is not meeting the requirements of the market, set a 3-6 months goal and know what you need to learn or experience in order to upgrade your resume
  6. When you feel confident with what you have written in your resume, then you can comfortable make the decision to leave your organization
