Collects chain of custody drug screens for various companies. Periodically oversees collections performed by phlebotomy or medical assisting students. Performs some registration functions to include patient data entry and order entry as well as specimen receiving, processing and distribution functions. Provides customer service support to technical staff and laboratory clients. High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or Phlebotomy Program. Minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience preferred. Requires a working knowledge of handling blood, body fluids and other lab specimens, according to infection control guidelines. Valid drivers license with driving record which meets the criteria to drive a FirstHealth vehicle.

The Department of Endocrinology (Basu Lab) is seeking a candidate to work as a PRN phlebotomist. This position will support clinical research and the hours will be variable depending on when a patient is admitted to the study. The phlebotomist must have expertise in venipuncture and maintaining IV patency for frequent blood draws. Prior experience in preparing IV infusions is a plus. Job-related duties include communicating with the study team, processing blood samples, sample collections per study guidelines, attention to details, and following IRB-approved protocol.
