We are seeking a Medical Dosimetrist - Radiation Oncology that will perform isodose treatment planning by means of computer and/or manual computation to determine the optimal treatment technique that delivers a prescribed radiation dose to patients. Works closely with the Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicist in planning the radiation therapy by performing radiation dose distribution to achieve the desired clinical goals. Interfaces with information services and demonstrates a clear understanding and knowledge of computer applications and systems related to Radiation Therapy.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform isodose treatment planning on Radiation Oncology patients using computer software and various imaging modalities independently
  • Delineate human anatomy and segments anatomical structures on various imaging modalities
  • In collaboration with the Radiation Oncologists, assesses clinical goals and techniques
  • Advise Radiation Oncologists concerning implementation of difficult or unusual techniques
  • Participate in daily treatment planning conference
  • Discuss the patients diagnosis and aim of radiation therapy with radiation oncologists, radiation physicist and simulation technologists in an effort to obtain optimal treatment for the individual patient
  • Supervised the radiation therapist staff in simulation and implementation of the treatment plan to ensure effective treatment
  • Provide clinical training in dosimetry procedures for trainee therapists, dosimetrists, and technical staff
  • Actively contributes to the management team of the Radiation Oncology Department by monitoring expenses to ensure cost containment, ongoing review and implementation of policies and procedures, providing input for operational decision making, regular attendance at monthly staff meetings, development of and understanding of the budget process, and support of the Mission Effectiveness Program and the philosophy of the Sisters of Providence
  • Be responsible for submitting and updating dosimetry and treatment planning charges


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical science or equivalent and graduate of a medical dosimetry program with minimum of two (2) years clinical practice -OR-
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical science or equivalent with on-the-job training in medical dosimetry program under the supervision of a certified medical dosimetrist, radiation physicist and radiation oncologist with minimum of three (3) years clinical experience -OR-
  • CMD holders received prior to 2011 may substitute ARRT registry for Bachelor degree per the MDCB (Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board)
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD)
  • Experience with Philips Pinnacle treatment planning system and Elekta Mosaiq system

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience with RayStation treatment planning system
