Job Summary:

Job requires the individual to be certified as a Radiology Technologist & Registered as a Mammography Technologist. Individual must operate all x-ray and film-processing equipment needed to provide mammography procedures. This individual must be an experienced professional who is able to perform technical procedures with minimum supervision. The technologist must be able to make independent judgment in using ionizing radiation. The procedures performed along with Radiologist's interpretation must meet state and federal regulations. Each facility must designate a quality control technologist with responsibilities to meet the quality control requirements of state and federal guidelines.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to accurately perform mammography study including positioning of patient and proper technical factors to ensure optimal study results.
  • Must be able to accurately mark films to identify proper body orientation.
  • Must be able to obtain a clinical history of the patients pertaining to the study being performed and determine if the patient is eligible for the procedure.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with interpreting radiologist to make needed clinical improvements in film quality.
  • Must have adequate knowledge to operate all mammography and Image film processing equipment in accordance with hospital policy and procedure and all regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures that all areas are stocked with adequate supplies for daily operation. Must adhere to all established department policies and procedures, quality management, radiation safety, and infection control standards.
  • Participates in education and special events to increase awareness of breast cancer and the importance of mammography.
  • Must meet ongoing state and federal requirement for continuing education.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education :

  • Coursework/Training - Hospital or College based accredited Radiological Technology program.


  • Radiology experience in a hospital or clinic setting including film processing experience.


  • ARRT registry –Radiological Technologist.
  • Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Department of Health.
  • Mammography Certification/Registry or Certification/Registry eligible.
  • BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education :

  • Coursework/Training - Have 40 hours of formal training in Mammography and completion of 25 supervised mammograms, as required by the Mammography Quality Standards Acts (MQSA).

Experience :

  • Experience in mobile mammography setting.


  • ARRT Mammography Certification or Certification eligible.
