We are looking for an Endoscopy Technician for the Endoscopy Laboratory Department at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Location: Laguna Beach, CA

Work Schedule: Full time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 10-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Department Manager, assists the medical, clinical and clerical staff in the care of the patient by providing high quality technical skills. The Endoscopy Technician II performs at a more advanced level acting as a preceptor to others. The Endoscopy Technician II assists with the admission and discharge of patients from the holding unit, to ensure a safe environment and quality patient care. The Endoscopy Technician II assists the RN with endoscopic procedures for both adults and pediatric patients in all settings of the hospital and Pavilion. The Endoscopy Technician II has a complete understanding and knowledge of high level disinfection.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates the ability to select all equipment, trays, and supplies for both the pain management and endoscopic procedures and assist during the procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to independently prepare the travel procedure cart, patient care carts, supplies, and equipment needed for patient care in the admitting and procedural suites.
  • Demonstrates the ability to independently assist the nurse in admitting and discharging patients to the Mission Hospital MV and Mission Hospital LB for all basic cases and age levels.
  • Demonstrates the application of the principles of high-level disinfection in a knowledgeable manner that provides for optimal patient care.
  • Participates in performance improvement plans with nurse manager.
  • Seeks opportunities to act as a preceptor or mentor to others.
  • Validates clinical competencies, participates in peer review, and provides constructive feedback to assist in the professional growth of peers.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in entry of data and retrieval of information from computer software programs utilized for optimal patient care and billing.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Baseline aseptic technique, infection control, and Universal Precautions knowledge.
  • Demonstrates basic computer literacy.
  • Good verbal communication and strong teamwork skills.
  • Able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Able to set proper and realistic priorities.
  • Preferred: Bilingual Spanish/English.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Experience: 1 year Endoscopy experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Current American Heart Association BLS certification; (C) category required.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Licenses/Certifications: Gastrointestinal Technician Specialist Certification.
