Job Description

We are looking for a Cardiac Catheterization Specialist Procedure Technician II for the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at St. Mary Medical Center.

Location: Apple Valley, CA

Work Schedule: On Call/ Per Diem

Shift: 10-hour, Days

Job Summary:

The Special Procedures Technologist II surgically assists the interventional radiologist and cardiologist with diagnostic and interventional procedures as well as obtains quality images, participates in providing for the safety and comfort of patients, assists in maintaining equipment and documentation for regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Obtains quality views for diagnostic and interventional cardiac and special procedure cases as well as ensures the production of quality diagnostic images.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic ECG interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring and emergency protocols.
  • Is able to independently scrub and assist all cases in either Interventional Radiology or Cardiology:
  • Radiology procedures to include dialysis access sheaths, thrombectomies, artery ablation, PTA’s, Carotid and AAA stenting.
  • Cardiac Cath Lab procedures to include, PTCA and Stenting using over the wire systems and monorail, IVUS, Angiojet, Pacemaker and ICD implantation.
  • Demonstrates competence in positioning techniques, knowledge of exposure factors, restraint methods and routine imaging procedures.
  • Manages venous and arterial lines and puncture sites. Accomplished at using arterial closure devices.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate all radiologic equipment in the cath lab and special procedures lab.
  • Demonstrates ability to input patient and procedure data into Camtronics data base computer generate an accurate report and place documentation in chart.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage and prioritize in a crisis situation.
  • Is able to film and bill all endovascular procedures.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: Coursework/Training - Completion of Radiologic Technologist program.

Experience:

  • 1 year experience in diagnostic radiology.
  • 6 months experience in an Invasive Radiology or Cardiac Cath Lab.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current California Fluoroscopy Certificate by evidence of Primary Source Verification.
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license, California by evidence of Primary Source Verification.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS).

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current Basic arrhythmia certification.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
