Covenant Health is seeking an on call, Respiratory Care Assistant with the Respiratory Therapy Department at Covenant Medical Center.

Job Summary:

Performs non-critical respiratory care procedures and ABGs under close supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Under supervision of a licensed practitioner, and in accordance with established policies and procedures:
  • Plans, prepares and delivers respiratory care treatments including IPPB, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, sputum induction, and aerosol (i.e., hand held nebulizer).
  • Plans, prepares and delivers all continuous treatments such as Oxygen, BIPAP/PCAP, and Pulse Oximetry, and aerosol.
  • Performs patient assessments.
  • Inspects, tests, maintains, and operates respiratory care equipment.
  • Performs Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analysis, completing documentation and reporting results.
  • Responds to "Code Blue" calls, assists in maintaining an airway and performing Basic life Support (BLS).

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education :

  • Coursework/Training
  • Actively enrolled in an AMA approved Respiratory Care Training Program.
  • Must be in the Clinical phase of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Training Program.

License/Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
  • Delegated authority signed by current Medical Director for Respiratory Care
